The Story – Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up… and the carnage has only just begun!

From The Director

Who wants a shave? Well, come on down to Fleet Street for the best barber in town and while you’re there, grab one of Mrs. Lovett’s famous meat pies!

First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting us at the Village Players. As the saying goes, “It takes a village,” and a village is exactly what we’ve built with this musical. We truly appreciate your being here!

Last year when I approached the board and proposed one of the greatest Stephen Sondheim musicals of all time, I was met with
questions like: “Are we going to get enough people to audition out here?”, “Do you think we’ll be able to pull this off on our stage?”, and the classic: “Sondheim is really hard — is there a music director who can even handle this?” I answered all those questions with a confident, resounding YES — and let me tell you, YES is what we gave them. I was ready for the challenge. In my mind, if I could conquer this show, I could do anything.

With performers coming from all over New Hampshire, we’ve assembled an incredibly talented cast who have worked tirelessly, day and night, to perfect the show you’re about to see. This
production wouldn’t be what it is without their dedication and passion,
and I’m truly fortunate to have each of them on board. Out of the 28 cast members, 12 are performing with the Village Players for the very
first time!

You’re about to be transported into a world full of hate, love, and revenge. Are you ready to have a bloody good time? Sit back, relax, and enjoy Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street!

When he’s not producing for WKXL talk radio, doing voiceover work, or performing at the theatre, he’s spending time with his family and loved ones.

He’s thankful you’re all here and hopes you enjoy the show!

Erin Balestrieri
Mrs. Lovett

Olivia is honored to be playing this role and thrilled to be part of this production of Sweeney Todd.

Favorite recent roles include “Veronica Sawyer” in Heathers at Winnipesaukee Playhouse and “Rosie Alvarez” in Bye Bye Birdie here at The Village Players.

Thank you for coming and enjoy the show (and the meat pies)!
