On December 31, 2020 the Village Players, like most of you, were delighted to say “So Long, Farewell, Auf wiedersehn, Goodbye,” to a terrible year.  We, like you, are eagerly anticipating the time when we can get back in there and share our talents with our community.

It never occurred to us that 2021 could be worse, but it’s truly been a tough year:

  • COVID-19 has continued to keep our doors closed.
  • April 2, 2021 We had a fire within the walls of the theater which caused thousands of dollars of damage. (We’re insured and the contractor is insured, but there are portions of the work which won’t be covered by anyone’s policy, such as asbestos removal, and bringing our curtain rigging and tracks up to current code.)
  • On April 23, we received notification that our boiler has failed inspection and must be replaced prior to admitting the public into the facility. But, thankfully, Eastern Propane and Oil has made a major contribution to the theater providing a new boiler and burner unit. We’ll still pay for installation and to line our chimney, bringing it up to code.
  • The 60 or 70 year old crash bars on the front doors have worn out, and obtaining the hardware to fit our historic doors is proving to be expensive
  • Weather and age have taken their toll requiring us to replace all of the emergency lights in the theater and repair our handicap access ramp. More great news–Needham Electric has donated new emergency lighting units.
But, The Show Must Go On!

The comedy Laughing Stock opened August 14 on the Village Players’ stage and we are cautiously optimistic that we’ll be staging the musical Nunsense in November. But we can’t do it without your help.

Would you to consider a donation to the Village Players as we navigate the multiple tasks ahead of us?

The show can’t go on without you! We need your donations right now to reopen the theater and get back to entertaining you with comedy, mysteries, and song and dance.

You can give here with your credit card or a PayPal account, or send a check to The Village Players, PO Box 770, Wolfeboro, NH  03894.

We sincerely thank you for your continued support.

What a thrill it is for us to see the numbers rise on this thermometer! We have a supportive community of theater lovers. Thank you!
